Children’s ADHD
It seems as if there is an increasing number of children being diagnosed with ADD or ADHD. Children’s ADHD is a condition where a child does not process learning the same way as the majority of most people. This does not mean that the child is not intelligent but often the reverse, that the child is above average intelligence and has a strong creative drive.

Children’s ADHD is usually given a clinical diagnosis. In most cases, the child will behave differently from other children which will prompt a parent or teacher to make a trip to the doctor.

Some pediatricians will give a clinical diagnosis of ADHD and others will refer the child to a pediatric psychiatrist or psychologist

Children with ADHD often exhibit pattern behavior that is in consensus with the diagnosis. The traits of ADHD include the following:
  • Not being able to sit still for very long

  • Being fidgety and always on the go

  • Often not completing assignments

  • Inattentive to details

  • Difficulty in following directions or instructions

  • Difficulty in concentrating on one thing at a time

  • Frequent daydreaming

  • Unorganized

  • Forgetful and often losing things

  • Difficulty in controlling impulses

These are just a some of the most common criteria that is evaluated before an ADHD clinical diagnosis is made. Scientists know that the brains of children with ADHD are different than other brains. They do not process thoughts in the same way. This affects them being able to learn in a traditional setting as well as their behavior with others. In most cases, the ADHD becomes apparent when the child starts attending school or preschool. Most cases of ADHD that are diagnosed are on school aged children.

Drugs such as Ritalin, that have long been used to control ADHD have harmful side effects and can also inhibit the imagination of a child with ADHD. A child with ADHD usually has a very vivid imagination and is highly creative.  When a child takes drugs to quell the negative traits associated with ADHD, he or she will often lose their creative spark. Some of the most celebrated people in the world have or had ADHD.

ADHD is not a curable condition but the negative characteristics, such as the traits reflected above, can be treated so that the child is able to function at full capacity. If your child has many of the traits of ADHD, chances are that he or she has the condition. It is up to parents to then help their children not only overcome the problematic aspects of this condition, but also nurture the child’s highly creative mind.

A Parent’s Natural Remedy Guide To ADHD” takes you through the steps of helping ADHD children work with their condition to achieve their full potential.
